Experiments & Projects
This is a category for things that don't really fit anywhere else. Models, real-world projects, and software toys seem to be the order of the day, as well as my collection of browser bug repros.
Browser Bugs -
I have an ever-growing collection of examples of different browser
bugs. This includes my original collection of IE7 bugs.
Hogblog - For several years my pet hedgehog, Pliny,
kept a meticulous record of his activity, posting every day to his
blog.- Water Heater Cost Calculator - A helpful little app that lets you compare different water heaters on cost of operation over time.
Face Morphing and
Caricatures Using Principal Component Analysis - The final project
for my Rendering and Image Processing class. We automatically generated
caricatures of faces, and morphed between faces in a more "natural"
way.-
Pixel Cookies
- My wife and I figured out how
to make cool pixelated images in cookies using nothing more than a $5
Play-Doh Fun Factory.
Micro Machines
Display - I built a really nice set of solid-walnut stands for my
Star Wars and Star Trek Micro Machines.
Tachikoma Model - Eva and I spent a few
months building this nice-looking articulated Tachikoma model from
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Papercraft
Models - I've started making some papercraft models, mostly of
ships from Homeworld. I get the plans from http://paperstarships.tengun.net/.
10/5 Mapmakers - My old Marathon
maps page from back in the day. I still like Marathon, so I keep this site looking pretty,
even though I don't make maps anymore.
Jellyfish - An old Flash
movie where an infinite stream of jellyfish swim up the screen. Not that complex, but fun to look at.
