  • [Feature] Fonts are now always the Windows default fonts, instead of being hardcoded to Tahoma.
  • [Feature] Prettified the notification popups. Now they're more Vista, less Windows 95.
  • [Feature] If there was an error getting the preferred emblem type, XBList will now try to get the other emblem type, instead of just failing.

  • [Feature] New setting: Always on top of other windows.

  • [Feature] You can now open a message to a friend by double-clicking on their gamertag, selecting "Send a Message" from the Friend menu, or selecting "Send a Message" from the right-click menu. You can still see their Xbox.com profile by right-clicking or using the Friends menu.

  • Fixed miscellaneous rare crash bugs
XBList 2.1.2146.39269
  • Correctly detects people who have no Halo 2 Emblem.
  • Settings files are now smaller (not that it matters)
  • Improved window state manager's interaction with remote desktop
  • Verified Xbox360 compatibility - it'll detect when somebody's playing an Xbox360 game and use a different icon for it, and it'll show extra info in the GamerCard popup.
  • Added super-spiffy GamerCard popups when you hover over your buddies. Includes extra info not on the normal GamerCard, and it'll use Halo emblems if you prefer.
  • Fixed occasional empty popups.
  • Fixed problem where "offline" popups wouldn't display.
  • You may now choose to play a sound whenever a popup appears. A default sound is included (many thanks to John Stevens for recording the sound for me). You can enable sounds and choose your own sound in the Options window.
  • Another attempt at keeping URL launching from failing on systems with broken browser installs.
  • New error message if Xbox.com is unavailable
XBList 2.0.2132.37244
  • There is now an error message if you do not have an Xbox.com account.
  • Cleared up more potential threading errors. God how I hate threads.
  • Fixed (I think) catastrophic error when you get a friend request.
  • You can now right-click on the tray icon and enable or disable all notifications.
  • Added an error message that should catch some Xbox.com errors, as well as giving you more than a blank screen if you have an empty Friends List.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the tray icon to report no friends online if you had a friend request.
  • Fixed a problem where emblems would not properly auto-update, or recover from a failure.
XBList 2.0.2129.41081
  • NOTE: I kinda rushed this release, so let me know if you find any bugs (I bet there will be some).
  • If you double-click a friend, you are now taken to their Xbox.com page. You can still see their Halo 2 Stats by right-clicking on their name and selecting "{Gamertag}'s Halo 2 Stats".
  • XBList now supports both Gamer Tiles and Halo 2 Emblems. You can set which one you prefer by going into the Options Menu.
  • There are now popups when different things happen, like friends coming on or offline. You can configure these from the Options Menu.
  • The window now remembers its size and position much better, even when you change resolution. I expect to see some multi-monitor issues with this as I haven't had a chance to test that part.
  • Too many more to mention - ended up ripping up XBList and redoing a lot of it.
  • Emblems now refresh on their own, every half hour. Great for long-running instances of XBList.
  • If you got an error on closing XBList, you probably won't get it anymore.
  • Some obscure crashes related to threading should now be more obscure, if not gone entirely.
  • Friends signed in to the Xbox Live Dashboard will always show up under friends playing a game.
  • The tooltip on the tray icon will no longer count the Xbox Live Dashboard as a game.
  • Rewrote lots of the internal code for handling the Friends list and emblems. This was to add the ability to notice events like people signing on and off of Live. It also should make the program much more stable.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause XBList to stop updating.
  • If the settings file is corrupted, settings will reset instead of crashing the program.
  • Added help links for Setup, Troubleshooting, and FAQ. Also linked to My Xbox.
  • XBList icon now shows up when you alt-tab between programs.
  • Made it so you cannot run two instances of XBList at once.

  • Changed "About" box.
  • Updated fonts and control positioning to comply to Windows standards.
  • Removed need for a manifest file or one of the interop DLLs
  • Stores settings in C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\XBList. This means it should now work fine for users running with restricted privileges, although I have not tested that.
  • XBList now deletes cached icon from Friends that have been removed from your Friends List.
  • Should no longer need manual uninstall before upgrading.
  • Fixed bug where cached icons could not be updated.
XBList 1.0.1923.39221 (June 7, 2005):
  • Added emblem caching for fast startup and refresh. XBList now won't re-download an emblem unless it's different from the cached version. You still need to choose "Tools > Refresh Halo Emblems..." to make it check for new emblems after startup.
